Fujikyuko Corporation has announced it will begin offering a new line of "wine and cooking" inspired luxury villas in Yamanako Mura, Yamanashi prefecture. Located on the shores of Lake Yamanaka and at the base of Mt Fuji, Yamanakako Mura is a long established location for luxury holiday villas catering to Tokyo's urban elite.

Central Tokyo luxury hotels have reported higher occupancy rates during the "Obon" summer holiday period compared to last year. For example, Hotel Okura in Tokyo's Minato-Ku reported occupancy rates 10 points higher compared to one year ago, while The Royal Park Hotel in Tokyo's Chuo-Ku reported an increase of 7 percentage points.

InterContinental Hotels has announced it will offer a Dom Perignon lunch promotion at its luxury boutique hotel location, The Strings InterContinental Hotel in Minato-Ku Tokyo. The lunch special will be offered in"The Dining," the hotel's French inspired restaurant and feature a bottomless glass of Dom Perignon Champagne for 30 minutes, reflecting the brand's wide popularity with Japanese luxury consumers.

The Hiroshima branch of premium department store chain Sogo has announced it will be expanding the amount of floor space dedicated to luxury brands. As part of a strategy to attract more customers, the department store's Hermes shop will be provided with 60% more sales space and relocated from the second to the first floor of the department store's new wing. The renovated Hermes shop will be the largest in Japan's central Chugoku region at 182.4 square meters, featuring clothing, women's and men's bags and leather goods and other assorted items.
