Helicopter Service Links Tokyo and Narita Airport

04, August 2009

Mori Building City Air Services, a subsidiary of major Tokyo property developer Mori Building Co, has announced the opening of a helicopter service linking central Tokyo and Narita International Airport Tokyo's main international airport.

Travel time to Narita International Airport from central Tokyo typically takes one hour or more by express train, limousine bus or car. The new helicopter service, targeting international executives and high net worth travelers, aims to reduce the time to 30 minutes or less. Flights will depart from the heliport atop the ARK Hills Building in Tokyo's Akasaka district and arrive at the Sakura Heliport. Passengers will then be taken to Narita International Airport, a few minutes away, by car service. For passengers originating at Narita International Airport, it is possible to arrange flights to Tokyo heliports other than ARK Hills.

The helicopter services are scheduled to start from September 16, with up to 22 flights per day possible. Eurocopter 135 helicopters are used by the service. Costs are 50,000 JPY (Appx 500 USD) per person in a standard 4-5 passenger helicopter or 75,000 JPY (Appx 750 USD) per seat in a helicopter with a leather interior by French luxury brand Hermes. Discounted prices to celebrate the new service's launch will be available until the end of the 2009.
