Noevir reformulates ¥100,000 facial cream

Japanese premium cosmetics company Noevir has recently begun selling the newest version of their Speciale Medicated Cream N. The premium facial beauty cream has been reformulated for the first time in 5 years. While the price stayed the same, ¥100,000, the volume per container is now 50 grams, an increase of 5 grams. The reformulated cream contains vitamin H (biotin) and B-2 to protect skin from dryness.

Swiss company Bally to reduce prices in Japan

July 23, 2008

Swiss premium brand Bally will reduce prices on the majority of their goods sold in Japan, including bags, wallets, and other related products. The price reduction will take effect July 25th with price reductions of up to 20% on some goods. In addition further price reductions will come in effect from this fall to coincide with the release of next spring's collection. By the end of this year it is forecasted that total price cuts will range between 25%-30%.

Shiseido and Kanebo compete with premium cosmetics brands

Japanese beauty products maker Shiseido has announced the addition of a new beauty cream to their premium brand Cle de Peau Beaute. The cream will be a part of the Synergique line and will retail for ¥126,000 for a 4 gram container. The new premium crème will be made available to the public from September 21, 2008. This is the most expensive and premium crème from Shiseido to date and will be available domestically at specialty shops and selected department stores.

Centuries old recipe shows Japanese willingness to pay premium prices for unique products

From the first of this month a special product from the western city of Amagasaki will be available for purchase, a unique soy sauce using a recipe from the Edo Period dating from 1600-1868. One of the special features which draw attention to the product is the mellow aroma that fills the room when it is poured into the small plate designed especially for soy sauce. Every year this popular Japanese product sells out very quickly, in part to due to unique features of the soy sauce and the blend of ingredients which require focused attention during the production and fermentation stages.

Premium Japanese beef producers setting their sights on Dubai

Producers of the very popular variety of premium Japanese beef, Saga Beef, have been strengthening their efforts to promote their product internationally. In particular Saga Beef is being promoted in the Middle East, the third largest market in the world for premium Japanese beef, behind Hong Kong and America. Hilton to develop more than fifty hotels in Japan

American global hotel management leader, Hilton Hotels International is set to move forward with plans to expand their various brands in Japan. From very high-end premium hotels to business hotels, in total nine different brands will be developed. Primarily the newly branded hotels will come from independently managed hotels, and by 2017 more than 50 hotels will be opened under a Hilton brand.

Jaguar bringing limited edition XRK to Japan

Jaguar-Land Rover Japan announced the high end sports coup, the XKR Portfolio Limited Edition will be available in Japan from July. Availability is limited to just 10 of the premium vehicles. The XKR Portfolio Limited Edition has upgraded features compared to the standard XKR, including a greatly enhanced braking system and special aluminum components. The base price for the stock model begins at ¥1,500,000 and goes up to ¥15,000,000 and beyond.

Tokyo watchmaker unveils latest in their premium line of Japanese-styled watches

Orient Watch, established in Tokyo in 1950, have unveiled the latest of their premium watch line, Royal Oriental which includes the Royal Oriental Classic. Notable features of the Royal Oriental Classic include the 18K gold case and stem and the classic design styling. Royal Oriental watches will retail in ranges from ¥168,000 to ¥420,000.

BMW introduces luxury SUV-style vehicles to the Japanese market

BMW Japan has begun taking orders for the latest model of their luxury class 4-wheel drive sports car to be introduced to the Japanese market, the X6. At a press conference in downtown Tokyo BMW President Jesus Cordoba explained about how with this model they are introducing a new category of vehicle to the domestic market, and emphasized it is for customers who are interested in owning a new type of automobile. The new style luxury vehicles are purported to have high fuel efficiency and lowered CO2 output with their 3000cc and 4000cc engines. For the two engine sizes the price will be ¥8,510,000 and ¥10,700,000.

Maserati Gran Turismo S to be introduced to the Japan luxury vehicle market

Cornes & Company Limited have announced that Maserati's newly styled coup, the Gran Turismo S which was on display in March at the Geneva Motor Show, will soon be made available to the luxury high-end market in Japan. Cornes is the only importer and distributor in Japan for Ferrari and Maserati. Compared to the Gran Turismo, the S-model has more advanced and improved features including the engine, transmission, and the breaking system which were developed with the intention of selling to drivers who want a more proficient automobile for sports driving. The vehicle will retail for ¥17,500,000, and is expected to be available in fall, 2008. By the end of fiscal 2008 it is anticipated that 90 vehicles in total will be brought into Japan.

Premium Spanish cosmetics brand coming to the Japanese market

Pola Orbis Holdings subsidiary Acro, has announced they will begin selling premium Spanish cosmetics brand Natura Bisse at department stores in Japan from this September. The brand deals in skin care products priced in the order of ¥10,000 to ¥50,000. In total 32 products will be sold, including beauty creams and lotions.

Hermes-Bugatti bringing their collaborative premium car to the Japanese market

The Hermes designed very high-end Bugatti car will be sold in Japan by Nicole Racing Japan, a company which specializes in importing and selling premium vehicles in Japan. In early May the model was on display at a dealer in downtown Tokyo, with a price of ¥278,000,000. Each car is built to order with high grade technical specifications and premium design inside and out.
